چکیده
To support improving genetic potential for increased milk production, intake of digestible carbohydrate must also increase to provide energy and microbial protein synthesis. We hypothesized that the provision exogenous branched-chain volatile fatty acids (BCVFA) would improve both neutral detergent fiber (NDF) degradability efficiency However, BCVFA should be more beneficial with increasing bacterial synthesis associated passage rate (kp). decreasing pH need isobutyrate over 2-methylbutyrate. study these effects independent from other sources variation in vivo, we evaluated continuous cultures without (control) versus (0 vs. 2 mmol/d each isobutyrate, isovalerate, 2-methylbutyrate), low high kp particulate phase (2.5 5.0%/h), (ranging 6.3 6.8 diurnally 5.7 6.2) a × factorial arrangement treatments. Diets were 50% forage pellets grain administered twice daily. Without an interaction, NDF tended 29.7 35.0% main control compared Provision methanogenesis, presumably resulting improved degradability. Decreasing decreased methane production. Total acid (VFA) acetate production kp, even though true organic matter nitrogen flow not affected by but propionate valerate probably shift taxa VFA stoichiometry. isovalerate while 2-methylbutyrate on net basis (subtracting doses). Supplementing moderate (15.4%) crude diets (excluding urea buffer) major interactions culture kp.

Eleven 1-pool, seven 2-pool, and three 3-pool models were compared in fitting gas production data and predicting in vivo NDF digestibility and effective first-order digestion rate of potentially digestible NDF (pdNDF). Isolated NDF from 15 grass silages harvested at different stages of maturity was incubated in triplicate in rumen fluid-buffer solution for 72 h to estimate the digestion kinetic...
متن کاملSubstitution of neutral detergent fiber from forage with neutral detergent fiber from by-products in the diets of lactating cows.
Four lactating dairy cows that were ruminally and duodenally cannulated were used in an experiment with a 4 x 4 Latin square design to determine the effects of the substitution of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) from forage with NDF from wheat middlings, corn gluten feed, or a blend of distillers dried grains and hominy. Dietary crude protein and NDF averaged 18 and 31%, respectively, for the die...
متن کاملIntake and milk production of cows fed diets that differed in dietary neutral detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber digestibility.
The objectives of this study were to determine how feeding diets that differed in dietary neutral detergent fiber (NDF) concentration and in vitro NDF digestibility affects dry matter (DM) intake, ruminal fermentation, and milk production in early lactation dairy cows. Twelve rumen-cannulated, multiparous Holstein cows averaging 38 +/- 15 d (+/-standard deviation) in milk, and producing 40 +/- ...
متن کاملMethods for dietary fiber, neutral detergent fiber, and nonstarch polysaccharides in relation to animal nutrition.
There is a need to standardize the NDF procedure. Procedures have varied because of the use of different amylases in attempts to remove starch interference. The original Bacillus subtilis enzyme Type IIIA (XIA) no longer is available and has been replaced by a less effective enzyme. For fiber work, a new enzyme has received AOAC approval and is rapidly displacing other amylases in analytical wo...
